Message :Now that I’ve got your attention… this is pretty minor but there is IMHO potential Nissan part
:incompatibility with this elbow set which AFAIK hasn’t been mentioned here.
:I have a 99 JSPEC front fascia on my TT and was wondering why the heck I couldn’t get the Selin
:elbow set with POP filters to fit. I tentatively concluded that the air guide which mounts to the
:bumper support had to go. I emailed Jim Selin (who responded in less than 30 minutes WOW)
:and asked him to confirm my suspicion. Without addressing fitment problems with either the
:ASPEC or JPEC fascias specifically, Jim simply said that some purchasers were able to retain the
:air guide while others had to remove it to get the elbows and filters to fit.
:Here’s the problem I experienced: The Selin elbows cause the filters to drop significantly so that
:they hang behind the large center intake of the JPSEC fascia
:
:Not only that but they protrude slightly into the gap that forms the intake opening. This protrusion
:cannot be altered because of the Selin filter mounting bracket and because the elbows rest on
:the electric fan frame.
:
:The long and short of this is that (1) if the air guide is retained it will be pushed forward by the
:POP filters into the fascia intake blocking most of the intake, and (2) regardless if the air guide is
:used or not the mesh grille for the JSPEC fascia intake interferes with the filters and is unusable
:in stock form.
:Aside from the fitment problems without the air guide to shield the filters, for certain the filters
:are going to collect a lot more dirt, debris and bugs, and will receive more wear and tear. So
:filter maintenance and wear with the Selin Dual Intake set is going to increase compared to a
:single POP with air guide, but that’s probably no different than any similar dual MAF arrangement
:that doesn’t have filter shielding.
:With the filters partially exposed to the fascia intake I was slightly concerned about turbulence
:that might affect the stability of engine air intake. After getting the installation squared away this
:morning (which includes the Selin Dual MAF Translator), I took my TT out for a test over about 30
:miles of interstate, country and city driving. The car worked flawlessly over the range of speeds
:driven (90 mph max.) whether cruising or under hard acceleration. And, yes, acceleration
:seemed improved.
:My first impression of the Selin Design elbow set and translator is that they are both made of high
:quality materials, well thought out, functional and sturdy. My experience with installation in a 99
:JSPEC fascia indicates, however, that the elbow set may be incompatible with the air guide and
:mesh grille typically used with that fascia. So keep that in mind when contemplating an identical
:mod.

I have the same fascia...It would seem that you can just add spacers to the center of the bracket and move the filters back to your liking. and if need be just trim the hoses down as well.
